The classic shape of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk IXc as it climbs above the clouds. This Spitfire is of No. 402 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force, in early 1943.

Buzz Bomb Buster!

Two Spitfire Mk.XIVs of No. 610 Squadron RAF chase a V1 'Buzz Bomb' over the Kent coast in June 1944. The lead aircraft is flown by Sqdn Ldr R. Newbery, Commanding Officer of 610 Squadron, credited with destroying seven V1s in   the Summer of 1944.

Desert Eagle

A Messerschmitt Bf190F-4/Trop shoots down an RAF Desert Air Force P40E Kittyhawk during the fierce battles in North Africa, 1942. The P40 pilot can be seen attempting to bail out of his stricken aircraft.

The Flying Barrel

The Brewster F2A-2 'Buffalo' Naval Fighter. This portly aircraft is shown in the markings of VF-2 ('Flying Chiefs') aboard USS Lexington in March 1941.

Wulf Pack

A Focke-Wulf Fw190A-5 is caught in a desperate, twisting battle with a US 8th Air Force Mustang in 1944. There is no  clear outcome to the encounter.

Inspired by a WWII American Telecoms/War Bonds poster, this sketch is drawn without references from memory alone.    It portrays a US Navy SBD-3 'Dauntless' gunner beating off an attack by Japanese Zero fighters.

This sketch shows an unmarked, factory fresh Gloster Meteor III before being handed to an RAF unit in 1945. The Meteor was the first of the RAF's jet fighters.

Catching the Wire

A Supermarine Seafire IIIc naval fighter just prior to touchdown aboard HMS Indefatigable, August 1945. This naval development of the famous Spitfire saw service against the Japanese just before the end of the Second World War.
