About Me Pencil Sketches Paintings Commissions |
![]() Airborne Art exhibits the work of me, Tim Cloke. I have been sketching and painting aviation, military and other subjects as a hobby for about the last four years. My style aims to be representational, allowing the subjects themselves give their own message, be it power, movement or endeavour. To this end, I believe that the depiction of machines, especially those used in war, can also convey the spirit of those who used them, for good or ill. I am currently a full time Modern and Contemporary History student at the University of Wales Bangor. The dramatic landscapes of North Wales and Snowdonia have served as an inspiration for my developing artistic eye. In addition my interest in history, especially military history, and my training as an historian have given me an eye for detail and an enthusiasm for authenticity in my work. In addition, being accustomed to conducting research as part of my studies has armed me with the skills to find out the details about a given topic that add to the overall authenticity and composition of the piece. Art has been a relatively recent addition to my interests, yet it has given me, and continues to give me many hours of pleasure. I hope that you will enjoy viewing some of my work, and also share my enthusiasm for AIRBORNE ART. Thanks for visiting! Tim Cloke
About the AIRBORNE ART logo: The AIRBORNE ART logo is reflective of its subject matter, showing the 'business end' of a North American P51D Mustang, in an historically accurate and striking paint scheme. The surrounding text echoes back to the 'nose art' frequently found on aircraft in battle from the Second World War to the present day.
